Game Loops
This section contains the outline of the basic loops that users must follow during the match and once they enter the game lobby.
Core game loop
The core game loop contains a chain of actions that is repeated over and over again during the game. It’s the essence of the game’s experience.
Explore & Loot
The player must explore the island to obtain loot by looking for chests, clearing loot camps, searching for airdrops scattered around the map and defeating other players. Among this loot, players will be able to find weapons, ammo, consumable items and throwable weapons.
PvPvE Fight
The fight between players is the main course of Domenation. The players will have to fight and defeat the rest of the participants or team in the game to win. To make this task easier, they will be able to fight against Rovers, NPC characters guarding chests full of better quality equipment.
Pulse impact
Shortly after the start of the match, the first round of domes are deployed across the map. From this point on, players will have a few minutes to reach them before the Pulse strikes. As the rounds go by, the number of Domes decreases until there is only one left. The last round will only spawn one Dome, which will be recognizable by its golden color and its special ability to contract during the effect of the pulse until it disappears.
The pulse affects the entire island for a few seconds, damaging and/or eliminating all the players on the map except those who are sheltered inside a dome. In the last round, the effect of the pulse will not cease until there is only one player or team standing.
Game Loop
The game loop of Domenation is pretty straightforward, as represented by the graph above. A player starts a new game, then gets transported to the waiting map until the matchmaking queue is filled up and it can start. Once the desired number of players is reached, a deployment point will be chosen by the player or randomly assigned to start the game.
Once deployed, the player will play the match as described previously. At the end of the match, the player is redirected to the game completion screen where they will receive experience points and rewards.
These rewards obtained from completing missions, finishing weapon objectives and advancing in the battle pass will be equipable from the customization menu, where players can level up and add upgrades to character and weapon skins, graffiti and other elements by paying scrap (also obtainable through missions and progression systems).
Waiting map
The waiting map is a reduced level in which players can practice and fight each other in an infinite free-for-all mode while they are waiting for the game to start, respawning every time they get killed.
This map follows a similar design to the main one: there are four major points of interest in the exterior ring of the map (which are connected by secondary paths) and another point of interest in the middle, which also acts as a visual reference for players to locate themselves in the map.
The main objective of this map and this gamemode is for the players to warm up, and for newer players to get familiarized with the game’s main mechanics before they start playing.
