Player
Mobility & Abilities
One of Domenation’s core elements is its players’ mobility, allowing them to jump, slide and dash across the map to move faster and reach new places. Some movement skills are limited by a stamina system, which will be consumed as the player uses some moves, and will recharge while no special move action is performed.
Run: Players will be able to sprint to traverse the terrain at a faster speed.
Jump: The player can jump and double jump to reach elevated parts of the map. The second jump consumes some stamina, but reaches higher compared to the first one.
Dash: This ability consists of an impulse that moves the player towards the movement direction. The dash can be used from the ground or combined with other movement abilities. It can be useful to move faster, reach new areas or arrive at a dome just before being killed by a pulse. This action also requires stamina.
Slide: The slide can be performed on tilted surfaces. The slope of the terrain will affect the speed of movement.
In addition to these mechanics, new brand mobility elements will be introduced to enhance gameplay and player experience. Ziplines, offering fast terrain traversal at the expense of increased exposure, and jump pads that enable reaching new heights, will introduce fresh possibilities to the gameplay. New seasons will bring new elements to the game, creating different and exciting situations that will keep players excited.
Unlike other games in the genre, there are very little mechanical differences between players. They all share the same base set of abilities described above, what makes a difference is the items and weapons they decide to pick up during the game and the upgrades they add to their equipment. A player might decide to choose a long range weapon and health packs, orienting its gameplay towards long range, short exchanges with players, while a different player might prefer to pick up a shotgun, some grenades and adapt an all-in close combat style. So different builds or playstyles won’t depend on the character’s abilities, but rather on its actions and loot options in-game.
Inventory
The player's inventory is intended to provide information on all the objects they carry during the game. A total of 10 objects can be carried by the player, as follows:
Greywing: Default weapon. It will always be equipped and cannot be detached. It will be positioned in the first slot on the HUD.
4 Slots of Weapon and Consumables objects: The player will be able to equip weapons and consumable items as long as he has space in his inventory. For example: the player can equip 4 health packs without any weapon or equip 3 weapons and 1 shield pack.
Five slots of ammo: Depending on the type of ammunition, the maximum number of bullets can change exponentially. The ammo slots are separate from the slots for weapons and consumable items.
When the match starts, the player only has the Greywing as default weapon without any other weapon, item or bullets in the inventory.
In-game team communication
Players can communicate with other team members using different game systems: chat, environment, waypoints, icons, gestures, compass, team feed and map markers among others. Some of them have similarities with those in Apex Legends or Fortnite.
The player can choose different options using the communication wheel by marking the objetive and selecting the necessary input with the corresponding icon that will appear in the game.
Our proposal involves the future integration of a voice communication system for team interactions, leveraging more advanced external applications in the communication field. This system aims to enhance team coordination and strategy by facilitating real-time, verbal communication among team members.
Pets
In the future, we plan to add pet companions to the game which will follow the players during the whole match and give them special bonuses to help them reach the final victory.
These pets will evolve as the match progresses, both aesthetically and mechanically. Their appearance will change making them look more impressive, while the perk they give to the player will also improve.
The player can make them evolve by playing and performing certain basic actions in game (like defeating other players, opening chests, surviving Pulses…).
